Common Issues
Most issues with Spectre Stats can be resolved quickly without contacting support. This page covers the most common problems bowlers run into — grouped by area — along with the steps most likely to fix them. If you've worked through the relevant steps and the issue persists, reach out to the Spectre Stats support team directly.
⚠️ Verify: Confirm the support contact method — email address, in-app support form, or help desk URL — and add it to the closing section of this page before publishing.
👤 Account & Sign-In Issues
I can't sign in to my account
- ✅ Double-check your email address — it's easy to have signed up with a different address than you're trying now
- ✅ Use Forgot Password on the sign-in screen to reset your password — even if you think your password is correct, a reset often resolves unexpected sign-in failures
- ✅ Check that Caps Lock is not on if you're signing in on a desktop browser
- ✅ If you signed up using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, make sure you're using the same method — these are separate from email and password login
- ✅ Try signing in on a different device or browser to rule out a device-specific issue
⚠️ Verify: Confirm which third-party sign-in methods are supported (e.g. Sign in with Apple, Google) and whether these are available on all platforms.
I didn't receive my verification email
- ✅ Check your spam or junk folder — verification emails are commonly filtered
- ✅ Add
spectrebowling.comto your safe senders list and request a new verification email - ✅ Make sure you entered your email address correctly during sign-up — if you made a typo, you may need to create a new account with the correct address
- ✅ Allow a few minutes — delivery can occasionally be delayed
I'm signed in but my subscription isn't showing as active
- ✅ Sign out of the app completely and sign back in — this refreshes your account status from the server
- ✅ On iOS, look for a Restore Purchases option in Account > Subscription and tap it
- ✅ Check that the purchase was completed successfully — look for a confirmation email from Apple, Google, or Spectre Stats
- ✅ Make sure you're signed in with the same account used to make the purchase
- ✅ If the issue persists, contact support with your account email and purchase receipt
⚠️ Verify: Confirm whether a Restore Purchases option exists in the app for iOS users, and the exact location of that option.
🔄 Sync & Data Issues
My data isn't syncing between devices
- ✅ Check that both devices have an active internet connection
- ✅ Pull down to refresh on the main screen to trigger a manual sync
- ✅ Sign out and sign back in on the device that isn't showing updated data
- ✅ Make sure both devices are signed in to the same account — it's easy to accidentally create a second account with a different email address
- ✅ Check whether the app is up to date on both devices — an outdated version can cause sync issues
A session I logged is missing
- ✅ Check that you're looking in the correct competition — sessions are stored under the competition they were logged against
- ✅ Check your filter and sort settings in the session list — an active filter may be hiding sessions that don't match the current criteria
- ✅ Pull down to refresh to force a sync in case the session was logged on another device and hasn't appeared yet
- ✅ Check whether the session was accidentally logged under a different date — search by score or ball to locate it
⚠️ Verify: Confirm whether a search function exists within the session list, and whether sessions can be located by score or ball if the date is unknown.
My competition history or stats look incorrect
- ✅ Check the date range and filter settings on your charts or competition list — these often explain unexpected numbers
- ✅ Review recent sessions for data entry errors — a mistyped score can significantly skew averages
- ✅ Check whether any sessions have been logged under the wrong competition type — a practice session logged as league play will affect your league average
- ✅ If you recently deleted a session or ball, note that this can affect calculated stats retroactively
☁️ Spectre Cloud Sync Issues
My arsenal data isn't syncing from Spectre Cloud
- ✅ Confirm that your Spectre Stats account is actively linked to your Spectre Cloud account — go to Account > Spectre Cloud to check the connection status
- ✅ Try disconnecting and reconnecting the Spectre Cloud link
- ✅ Confirm with your pro shop that your ball data has been entered and saved in Spectre Cloud on their end — data can only sync from Spectre Cloud if it exists there
- ✅ Check whether a manual sync trigger is required — tap or click Sync Now if available
⚠️ Verify: Confirm the exact location of the Spectre Cloud connection status screen and whether a manual sync trigger exists.
I linked my Spectre Cloud account but nothing appeared in my arsenal
- ✅ Allow a few minutes after linking — initial sync can take time depending on the amount of data
- ✅ Confirm with your pro shop that your customer record exists in Spectre Cloud and that balls have been assigned to your profile
- ✅ Check your arsenal for any new balls that may have been added but aren't immediately visible — try pulling down to refresh
📊 Performance Charts Issues
My charts are empty or showing no data
- ✅ Confirm you have an active Pro subscription — performance charts are not available on free accounts
- ✅ Check the selected date range — if set to a period where no sessions exist, the chart will be empty
- ✅ Check that active filters aren't excluding all your sessions — clear all filters and try again
- ✅ Make sure your sessions have game scores entered — sessions saved without scores won't contribute to chart data
- ✅ If you recently upgraded to Pro, sign out and sign back in to ensure your subscription status has refreshed
My ball performance chart is missing some balls
- ✅ A ball will only appear in the chart once it has been used in at least one logged session — balls added to your arsenal but never selected during a session won't appear
- ✅ Check that the ball is still active in your arsenal and hasn't been marked inactive or deleted
- ✅ Confirm the date range — if a ball was only used outside the selected range, it won't appear in the filtered view
🎱 Arsenal Issues
A ball I deleted is still showing up in my sessions
Session records that referenced a deleted ball may retain the ball name as a historical reference even after the ball is removed from your active arsenal. This is expected behavior — your session history is preserved even when the ball itself is deleted. If this is causing confusion, consider using the inactive status instead of deleting balls outright.
⚠️ Verify: Confirm exactly how deleted ball references appear in historical session records.
My ball's current surface isn't updating after I log a maintenance entry
- ✅ Make sure you selected Surface Change as the maintenance type — other entry types such as Cleaning or Polish Applied may not automatically update the current surface field
- ✅ Pull down to refresh on the ball detail page after saving the entry
- ✅ If the surface still hasn't updated, edit the ball directly and update the current surface field manually
📱 App Performance Issues
The app is running slowly or freezing
- ✅ Close the app completely and reopen it
- ✅ Check for an app update in the App Store or Google Play — performance issues are often addressed in updates
- ✅ Restart your device
- ✅ Check your internet connection — slow sync can make the app feel unresponsive
- ✅ On iOS, check that Background App Refresh is enabled for Spectre Stats in Settings > Spectre Stats
The app crashed and I lost data I hadn't saved yet
Spectre Stats saves data when you tap or click Save — any unsaved changes at the time of a crash will not be recovered. If this happens regularly, try keeping your sessions shorter or saving more frequently during data entry. If crashes are occurring often, check for an app update or contact support.
Notifications aren't arriving on my device
- ✅ Check that notifications are enabled for Spectre Stats at the device level — go to Settings > Spectre Stats > Notifications on iOS, or Settings > Apps > Spectre Stats > Notifications on Android
- ✅ Check your in-app notification preferences under Account > Notification Settings and confirm the relevant notification types are turned on
- ✅ Check that Do Not Disturb or Focus modes on your device aren't suppressing notifications
