👤 Account & Getting Started
Is Spectre Stats free to use?
Spectre Stats has a free tier that includes basic competition logging and arsenal tracking. Advanced features — including performance charts, full competition history, unlimited ball tracking, and Spectre Cloud integration — require a Pro subscription. See Subscription & Billing for pricing details.
Can I use Spectre Stats without a Spectre Cloud account?
Yes. Spectre Stats works as a fully standalone app. A Spectre Cloud connection is optional and only relevant if your pro shop uses Spectre Cloud software. You don't need a pro shop relationship to use any core feature of Spectre Stats.
Can I use Spectre Stats on multiple devices?
Yes. Spectre Stats syncs your data across all devices automatically via the cloud. Log a session on your phone at the lanes and your stats will be waiting for you when you open the app on another device or in a browser at home.
What platforms is Spectre Stats available on?
Spectre Stats is available on iOS (iPhone and iPad), Android, and web browser. See Available Platforms for download links and browser compatibility details.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
- On the sign-in screen, tap or click Forgot Password.
- Enter your registered email address.
- Check your inbox for a password reset email and follow the link.
⚠️ Verify: Confirm the exact label and location of the password reset option on the sign-in screen.
Can I change the email address on my account?
Yes. Go to Account > Profile, tap or click your email address, enter the new address, and save. You'll receive a verification email to confirm the change. See Your Profile for full steps.
How do I delete my account?
Account deletion can be requested from the Account section of the app or by contacting Spectre Stats support. Deleting your account permanently removes all your competition history, arsenal data, and session records — this action cannot be undone.
⚠️ Verify: Confirm the exact account deletion path in the app and the support contact method for deletion requests.
🏆 Competitions & Sessions
What's the difference between a competition and a session?
A competition is the overall event — for example, your Thursday Night League for the full season, or a specific tournament. A session is a single night or round within that competition. Think of a competition as the container and sessions as the individual entries inside it. See Logging League Play & Tournaments for more detail.
Can I log more than one competition at the same time?
Yes. You can have as many active competitions as you need — for example, a weekday league, a weekend league, and an upcoming tournament all running simultaneously. Each has its own session history and stats.
Can I log practice sessions separately from league and tournament play?
Yes. When creating a competition, select Practice as the competition type. This keeps practice data separate from your competitive results while still contributing to your overall performance history if you want it to.
I made a mistake in a session — can I edit it?
Yes. Open the session, tap or click Edit, make your changes, and save. All fields can be updated after the fact, including scores, ball selection, and notes. See Managing Sessions for full steps.
Can I log a session I bowled in the past?
Yes. When adding a session, change the date field to the date you actually bowled. You can backfill your entire competition history this way — the date you enter is what Spectre Stats uses for charts and trend calculations.
What happens to my data if I archive a competition?
Archiving a competition moves it out of your active list but preserves all session data and stats in full. Archived competitions still contribute to your overall performance history and charts. You can unarchive at any time.
⚠️ Verify: Confirm whether archived competitions continue to feed overall performance charts and averages.
🎳 Shot Data & Performance
Do I have to enter shot data frame by frame?
No. You can log just a game score if that's all you want to capture. Frame-by-frame entry is optional and available when you want a more detailed record. Many bowlers log scores only during a session and add additional detail later. See Recording Shot Data for both approaches.
Why aren't my performance charts showing any data?
Performance charts require a Pro subscription and at least a small number of logged sessions to generate meaningful data. If you've recently upgraded to Pro, charts will populate from all your historical session data — not just sessions logged after upgrading. If charts remain empty, check that your sessions have scores entered and that your selected date range and filters aren't excluding all your data.
⚠️ Verify: Confirm the minimum number of sessions required before charts begin to display, and whether any chart types are available on the free tier.
Can I track multiple balls within a single session?
Yes. In frame-by-frame entry mode, you can log a different ball for each frame — useful when you switch equipment mid-game. At the game level, you can also select the primary ball used for each game within a session. See Recording Shot Data for details.
How is my average calculated?
Your average is calculated from all game scores logged in Spectre Stats across the sessions and date range you select. You can choose to display your season average, a rolling average, or your all-time average from Account > Preferences. See Preferences for configuration options.
⚠️ Verify: Confirm the exact average calculation method — whether it is games-based or sessions-based — and whether practice sessions are included in the overall average by default or can be excluded.
🎱 Arsenal & Maintenance
How many balls can I add to my arsenal?
Free accounts have a limit on the number of balls that can be tracked. Pro subscribers have unlimited ball tracking. If you're approaching the free tier limit, upgrading to Pro removes the restriction entirely.
⚠️ Verify: Confirm the exact ball limit on free accounts (e.g. 3 balls, 5 balls).
What happens to my session history if I delete a ball from my arsenal?
Deleting a ball removes it from your arsenal permanently. Sessions that referenced the deleted ball will retain their score and other data, but the ball association may be removed or shown as deleted. To preserve your full history, consider marking the ball as inactive rather than deleting it outright.
⚠️ Verify: Confirm exactly how deleted ball references are handled in historical session records, and whether an inactive/retired status is available as an alternative to deletion.
Does logging a surface change update my ball's current surface automatically?
Yes — when you log a surface change in the maintenance log, Spectre Stats updates the ball's current surface field to reflect the new preparation. See Ball Maintenance Records for how to log a surface change correctly.
⚠️ Verify: Confirm whether the current surface field updates automatically or requires a manual update after logging a maintenance entry.
Can I add balls to my arsenal manually if I'm not connected to Spectre Cloud?
Yes. All ball details — name, brand, weight, surface, layout notes — can be entered manually regardless of whether your account is linked to Spectre Cloud. Spectre Cloud integration simply makes it faster by pulling in drilling specs automatically if your pro shop has them on file.
☁️ Spectre Cloud
Do I need Spectre Cloud to use Spectre Stats?
No. Spectre Stats is a fully standalone app. Spectre Cloud integration is an optional add-on for bowlers whose pro shop uses Spectre Cloud software. All core features of Spectre Stats are available without any connection to Spectre Cloud.
What data syncs between Spectre Stats and Spectre Cloud?
When your accounts are linked, ball drilling specs and arsenal data from your pro shop's Spectre Cloud records can sync into your Spectre Stats arsenal. See Spectre Cloud Integration for a full breakdown of what syncs and what doesn't.
⚠️ Verify: Confirm the full sync data list with the Spectre team before publishing.
My pro shop uses Spectre Cloud — how do I link my accounts?
See Connecting to Spectre Cloud for step-by-step instructions. You'll need to confirm your account link with your pro shop before data can sync.
⚠️ Verify: Confirm the exact linking process — whether it requires a code from the pro shop, an email invitation, or a manual approval step.
💎 Subscription & Billing
Can I try Pro before committing to a subscription?
A free trial may be available when you first sign up or when you tap Upgrade to Pro for the first time. Check the subscription screen in the app for current trial availability.
⚠️ Verify: Confirm whether a free trial is offered, its duration, and whether it requires a payment method upfront.
If I upgrade to Pro, will my historical data be included in my charts?
Yes. All session data you logged before upgrading — including sessions recorded on a free account — is included in your performance charts as soon as Pro is active. You don't lose any history by starting on the free tier.
What happens to my data if I cancel my Pro subscription?
Your account reverts to the free tier at the end of your current billing period. Your data — competition history, arsenal, sessions, and maintenance records — is preserved in full. Pro features such as advanced charts become inaccessible until you resubscribe, but no data is deleted.
⚠️ Verify: Confirm that data is fully preserved on downgrade and that no session records, arsenal entries, or maintenance logs are removed when a Pro subscription lapses.
I was charged but my Pro features aren't showing. What do I do?
Try signing out of the app and signing back in — this usually refreshes your subscription status. If the issue persists, contact Spectre Stats support with your account email and purchase receipt.
⚠️ Verify: Confirm the support contact method and whether there is a "Restore Purchases" option in the app for iOS users.
